Hey Fam,
Happy New Year. I know it's not January 1st BUT with all that has happened in January I feel like today is the start of the year for me.
It's month into 2008 and it's truly bitter sweet. I've had to muscle up the strength to continue to work REVIVAL as Bonnie wouldn't have it any other way. Plus my project has always been a labour of love for her so I'd be an idiot to not see it through. So, It's about that time. I'm 18 days into my tribute to Bonnie and I'm PUMPED to take REVIVAL to Platinum status. The Juno nominations are next week and I won't lie I'm super anxious. Nervous is a negative emotion so I've chosen to use anxious instead. The only thing that counters that emotion for me is exercise... Well at least I'll be fit : )
I took a long unplanned break from training hard and I have to admit that although the food was fun, it wasn't worth it. You really are what you eat... I will say that I'm SUPER happy I finally understand how my body works and all it took was a quick YouTurn to get me back on track. Plus I'm about to shoot another video so I need not look like the poppin fresh dough boy ; )
I won't obsess though as that will only make me get frustrated. So as Papa always says, "Inch by inch, lifes a synch. Yard by yard, life is hard". So, I'm taking it one workout and meal at a time. I'm on the road and for once I've figured out how to hit it hard out here. It's amazing!
Okay enough about that... I'm boring myself.
I started reading a new book that has been helping me set some new goals as sometimes we can get stuck asking God to help us achieve the same ole things. It's called "YOUR BEST LIFE NOW 7 STEPS TO LIVING AT YOUR FULL POTENTIAL" By Joel Osteen. I haven't gotten very far BUT so far I love where it's going. I'll share the steps the i suggest you go pick it up : )
1. Enlarge Your vision
2. Develop a healthy self image
3. Discover the power of your thoughts and words
4. Let go of the past (I struggle with this...)
5. Find strength through adversity
6. live to give (I LOVE THIS ONE!)
7. Choose to be happy (Yah it's actually a choice...)
I'll let you know how I do once I'm done reading. I've already begun to enlarge my vision for my career as the opportunities seem to be coming my way. The challenge is having daily faith and not letting what appears to be a set back get you down. Both personally and professionally.
Well, I'm going to do some reading and hit the sack. The mind needs to be exercised just as much as the body.
Thanks again to all of my fans both old and new who have been supporting my music and tv career. I tell kids to dream big and I'll always be a kid at heart so I'm also dreaming big... After all, Mom worked for $1.65/hour in the 60's so that I could have the opportunities I have today... I'm determined to continue to make her proud and treat her like the Queen she is.
Night, Night,
JB
